Share Shop Tiverton is a Library of Things: a place from where people can borrow seldom used household items at a low cost. The aim is to reduce carbon emissions by making more use of the library items, rather than everyone buying their own. The benefit for customers is that they spend less to be able to use the items than would be the case if they bought them, and also they don't have to store them all year round to be able to use them once or twice. Our stock of items includes household equipment like carpet cleaners and pressure washers, camping equipment, DIY tools, large pans for catering, games and other stuff for childrens parties, a garden gazebo and much more. You can browse our catalogue on the share shop website, Borrow don't buy – Share Shop Tiverton
The Share Shop is open for two sessions each week, Saturday 9:30am to 12 noon, and Thursday, 5:30 to 7pm. Customers reserve their items on line, and come into our Ecohub at 20B Bampton St, Tiverton, at those times to collect, and then later to return, the items. The job of the volunteers is to find the reserved items in our store, check they are safe to go out, and issue them to the customers, taking payment via our laptop. The share shop operates using proprietary software (MyTurn). Full training will be provided, but some confidence in the use of computer systems will be an advantage. We always have two volunteers 'on' at any time. We would like volunteers to be able to offer a minimum of one session each month.
ShareShop is a project of Sustainable Tiverton.
