Are you an amateur actor? Could you support your community by helping support police training?

Role play scenarios are utilised to support initial and ongoing training and development of Devon & Cornwall Police Officers and Staff. Role Play Volunteers (RPV) will support these scenarios to assist Learning and Development colleagues with creating a safe learning environment both within a police premisis and in the
community. A Role Play Volunteer (RPV) will assist with creating a realistic situation, by playing the role of a victim, offender or witness in a variety of situations and provide feedback around how the officers or staff presented themselves and made the volunteer feel. When supporting and role playing in these realistic situation, there may be occasions when the volunteer is handcuffed for a short period of time and/or searched by both male and female trainee officers.

This is an ad-hoc role and will not require a regular commitment. The frequency of
this role will depend on the amount of role plays and additional support required by
the Learning & Development team.

development days (role plays within the community)
  • Act out different scenarios to help make the training and assessments as real as

  • Act as either a victim, witness, suspect, comms dispatcher (if appropriate) or other
    necessary roles in a scenario.
  • Offer feedback on situations following the role play as requested by the trainer
