Step One Charity is pleased to introduce the Torquay Wellbeing Walk, a valuable addition to the BeWell@StepOne programme aimed at enhancing the mental health and overall wellbeing of the community.

Designed to promote physical activity, social connections, and the benefits of spending time in nature, the Torquay Wellbeing Walk is a free, bi-weekly group walking activity that invites people of all ages and fitness levels to come together. Led by an experienced walk leader, the walk covers approximately 2.2 miles of easy terrain, ensuring accessibility for all. As participants explore the scenic sights of Babbacombe and St Marychurch, the peaceful surroundings create an ideal setting for people to enhance their mental wellbeing. They can also learn about the range of wellbeing groups, courses, workshops and activities provided by Step One Charity through their BeWell@StepOne service.

Walk details:

When: Fortnightly on Fridays, now from 2pm. Walk finishes at approximately 3.15pm.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MEETING TIME HAS CHANGED FROM 3pm to 2pm starting from the 10.11.23 due to the Clocks going back.    

Upcoming walk dates*: 2023; December 22nd.  2024; January 5th, 19th. February 2nd, 16th. March 1st ,15th and April 12th and continnuing fortnightly thereafter*    
Where: Cary Park Tennis Club, Cary Ave, Torquay TQ1 3QT (participants meet at the Clubhouse next to the courts).
Walk difficulty: Easy (paved paths, minimal inclines and declines).
Distance: Approximately 2.2 miles.
Walk leader: Dominic Bryant (RMN, BSc, PGC, Ramblers Walk Leader Training)

Participants are encouraged to register in advance to ensure accommodation and to receive updates about potential changes due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. Walk-ins are welcome, and registration assistance is also available upon arrival.

Their support has made the Torquay Wellbeing Walk possible, reinforcing the commitment to promoting a healthier and happier community.

*  PLEASE NOTE, CHRISTMAS 2023 INFO: The last walk of 2023 will be on the 22/12/23. The first walk of 2024 will be on the 05/01/2024 and fortnightly thereafter. There will be no walk on Friday 29th March 2024 (Good Friday)
