As a dancer with over 25 years experience, I am starting up a new scottish country dancing class on Tuesday evenings in October, hopefully at South Devon College, from 7 - 9pm for beginners and others who have danced previously. Men and women welcome. (No kilts or swords required.)
Try something new! Come on your own, with a friend or as part of a group. Similar to ceilidh dancing, although it involves a few more steps and formations. Dance to exciting, traditional toe-tapping celtic music - often fiddles and accordians (not the bagpipes!). The dancing is energetic in short bursts. You get a little rest whilst we walk through the pattern of the next dance, then off we go again!
Wear soft-soled, flat, non-slip shoes or trainers to make it easier to dance on your toes on this lovely sprung floor. Wear layered comfortable clothes to move in as we do get warm.
All you need is some enthusiasm and be willing to hold hands with your partner and others. We swap partners every dance so it's very sociable. It's also great for keeping your brain alert with aerobic fitness for your body.
Free parking close to the dance studio at the back of the college building.
Cost of class is expected to be £5 per night.
Please contact me if you are interested in the classes, so I can give you more details, even if you have missed the £3 taster sessions on 20th September and 30th September - see other listings.
