This upcoming workshop is designed to support people who may be feeling tentative about... sewing, social interactions, getting out in the community, ability to help a community project, or getting going on a project. The feeling may be rooted in a wide range of circumstances: illness, anxiety, caring responsibilities, feelings of creative inadequacy, just general intense busy-ness. The reason doesn't matter.
This three session workshop series is designed to help you give it a go in a friendly no-pressure and very supportive environment.
#PatchworkCrediton is a new community project to offer friendly social opportunities, to re-use what would be waste textiles, and support the town centre in creative ways.
In the workshops, we will learn some patchwork, make totebags, and probably do a bit of stencilling of fabric.
The tutor, Catherine West, is WRAP 'Love your Clothes champion' since 2013 and winner of the Devon Artist Network 2023 Heather Jansch Award. Wrap is the national Waste Resource Action Programme.
The emphasis of this workshop is helping you get making or going with something for yourself. You don't need to know how to use a sewing machine. The tutor will take care of the technical bits.
