The PHSF is a registered Charity responsible for the upkeep of the heritage vessel Pilgrim of Brixham, BM45
Pilgrim of Brixham (BM45) is a heritage sailing vessel of National significance, built at the yard of J.W. & A. Upham in Brixham in 1895. She is the oldest surviving sailing trawler built and rigged in the town, known itself as the 'Mother of Trawling'. She was one of several hundred Victorian sailing trawlers working out of Brixham in the late 19th century.
The history of Pilgrim is a fascinating story of endurance and survival that sees her still sailing in the traditional manner out of her home port, 130 years after her launch. Pilgrim was extensively re-built between 2009 and 2013, the restoration only being possible with massive support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and many others who contributed time, money and energy to the project.
The Pilgrim Heritage Sailing Foundation was formed in 2017 as a registered charity charged to ensure the preservation, operation and maintenance of the vessel.
