We use surplus sustainably produced food to build community, tackling poverty and social isolation
We deliver fresh food boxes to the doors of households in need in Totnes and villages. Our boxes contain good quality mostly organic surplus fruit, vegetables and other fresh produce. We can usually accommodate special diets and are open 52 weeks of the year to households and to organisations who help children, young people, vulnerable adults and people in crisis.
Emergency food box referrals: For same day, discreet emergency food aid delivered to the door of the household in need, 52 weeks of the year. The emergency service covers Totnes and the surrounding villages. For people in other parts of Devon, we signpost to other food banks- we also supply other food banks with fresh food so have extensive connections in South Devon.
Weekly food box referrals: Our volunteer team deliver a weekly box to the household whilst we make any referrals on their behalf, help them apply for grants, or signpost to get them back on their feet. We cover Totnes and villages, but if the person has a professional referral for health or other needs, where a fruit and veg box is more appropriate than a regular food bank parcel, we also cover Buckfastleigh, Ashburton, South Brent, Torquay, Newton Abbot.
We hold Pay What You Feel Community Cafes on the first Saturday of the month at the United Free Church in Totnes. We also support community events with outside catering services and run cooking workshops for targeted groups and the general public.
We are a not for profit community interest company in our tenth year of operation - all proceeds cover the costs of delivering more than a million portions of fruit and veg per year that would otherwise go to waste, to good causes locally, to households in need, and to put on accessible and affordable community events based around food.
