Improving and Understanding the Aquatic Habitats of Hakeford Woods.
Its time to give our water habitats a little love. At Hakeford Woods we have a wonderful network of streams and ponds. Over the next few months we are going to use traditional conservation and survey techniques to enhance our aquatic habitats and better understand the life that makes the water its home.
Come and join us on a Wednesday from 10 – 2 and spend some satisfyingly productive time clearing invasive species (mainly Himalayan Balsam) , stabilising the river network, slowing the rivers flow and mapping the valley’s watery habitats.
All you’ll need is waterproof footwear, lunch and enthusiasm. Come and join us for a friendly, relaxed day in beautiful Devon woodland.
This project is being supported with a grant from the National Trust’s Freshwater Community Grant Fund, which is funded by the Government's Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.
