In response to the current cost of living crisis, Teignbridge CVS can share this list of free local warm hubs and community services available to local residents over this winter.

  • Local Libraries - Offering warm welcoming spaces along with groups, resources and facilities. (Contact your local library for available days/times.) Free baby weighing available and a selection of Reading Well booklists to support mental and physical health.
  • A Home Library Service is also available for the housebound. Email: home.library@librariesunlimited.org.uk

NEWTON ABBOT:

  • Newton Abbot Library, Passmore Edwards Centre, Market St, Newton Abbot TQ12 2RJ - Monday - Thursday 9.00am - 6.00pm - faciliites as above. Warm Winter coat rails, digital wings programme, work clubs - Fri 9.00 - 5.00pm & Sat 4.00pm
  • Buckland Community Centre, Gilbert Rd, Newton Abbot TQ12 4HS - Wednesdays 6.00pm - 9.00pm Cosy Club - Refreshments and games available. Oven and microwave available for use.

CHUDLEIGH:

  • Chudleigh Community Hall, Chudleigh Primary School, Chudleigh TQ13 0RB - Mondays 10.00am - 12.00pm - The Living Room offers a warm, social space with games and refreshments.
  • The Phoenix Chudleigh, 25 Fore St, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot TQ13 0HX - Wednesday - Saturday 9.00am - 1.00pm - providing a warm working space
  • Chudleigh Town Hall, Market Way, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot TQ13 0HL - Fridays 9.30am - 11.30am - Acts of Kindness coffee morning and peer support

TEIGNMOUTH:

  • Teignmouth Library, Fore Street, Teignmouth, TQ14 8DY- Monday 9.00am - 6.00pm, Tuesday 9.00am - 5.00pm, Wednesday 9.00am - 6.00pm, Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm, Saturday 9.00am - 1.00pm - Warm winter coat rail; free Wi-fi. Free hot drinks on Wednesday and Friday mornings.

  • Alice Cross Centre, 1-3 Bitton Park Rd, Teignmouth TQ14 9BT - Thursdays 2.00pm - 4.00pm - The hEAT café provides complimentary food and drinks

DAWLISH:

  • Dawlish Library, 1 Lawn Hill, Dawlish EX7 9PY - Monday 9.00am - 1.00pm, Tuesday 9.00am - 5.00pm, Thursday 9.00am - 6.00pm, Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm, Saturday 9.00am - 1.00pm - Free Wi - fi and activities including baby weighing
  • Dawlish Methodist Church, Brunswick Pl, Dawlish EX7 9PB - Monday, Thursday, Friday 10.00am - 12.00pm - Tea and coffee available
  • Hope Church Centre, Swift Rd, Dawlish EX7 0FS - Monday, Tuesday Wednesday 10.30am - 2.30pm - Self service hot drinks, light refreshments and simple hot lunch. Reading, playing board games, chatting. Toys and high chairs available
  • The Hub Store, 6 The Strand, Dawlish EX7 9PS - Monday - Saturday 9.30am - 4.30pm Free indoor play area, wifi access, device charging facility, tea and coffee, seating spaces, books, local information and signposting.   • The Strand, Centre, Dawlish EX7 9PT - Tuesday - Saturday 10.00am - 2.00pm - Free electrical charging. A 50p lunch club runs here one day a week for those in need on a referral basis, ask Paul the manager.

EXMINSTER:

  • Warmwell Westbank, Farm House Rise, Exminster, Exeter EX6 8AT - Monday - Friday 10.00am - 4.00pm - A warm space offering free refreshments, soup and a roll. Games and jigsaws, advice leaflets available, Coat Hook and warm winter wear, larder and community fridge

STARCROSS:

  • The Atmospheric Railway Inn, Starcross, Exeter EX6 8PA - Tuesdays 11.00am - 3.00pm - free tea and coffee

ASHBURTON:

  • St Andrews Church Hall, 2 St Andrews Close, Ashburton, Newton Abbot TQ13 7DT - First Wednesday of the month - 2nd November, 7th December, 4th January 11.45am - 1.15pm - Drop-in for local people offering a bowl of soup with a roll and a hot drink.

BUCKFASTLEIGH:

  • Buckfastleigh Town Hall, 34 Bossell Rd, Buckfastleigh TQ11 0DD - Monday - Friday 9.00am - 1.00pm - warm space
  • Buckfastleigh Library (in the Town Hall), 34 Bossell Rd, Buckfastleigh TQ11 0DD - Thursday 3.00pm - 6.00pm, Friday 2.00pm - 5.00pm, Saturday 10.00am - 1.00pm - Hot drinks, board games and free wifi available

MORETONHAMPSTEAD:

  • Moretonhampstead Community Club, 6 Sawyers Close, Moretonhampstead TQ13 8FD - Fridays 11.00am - 3.00pm - Friendly Fridays drop-in. Tea, coffee, light lunch, meet new people, friends or just relax, all ages welcome, fully accessible, social distancing corner.
