Explore Dartmouth is looking for a passionate, organized, and local-loving Volunteer Visitor Centre Co-ordinator to grow our team. The Visitor Centre is loved by many in Dartmouth and seen as an important part of our offer to Visitors. The Explore Dartmouth team have been running it for 2 years, and now need an additional person to take on this key role and help secure the future of tourist information in Dartmouth
If you’re the person who always knows the best spot for a cream tea, enjoys chatting with locals and tourists alike, and has a knack for keeping things running smoothly, we want to hear from you!
The Role at a Glance
- Commitment: Approx. 7 hours per week (flexible, including some time at the Visitor Centre).
- Status: Volunteer (Unpaid).
- Location: Dartmouth Visitor Centre & remote.
- Reporting to: The Board of Explore Dartmouth.
What You’ll Be Doing
As our Co-ordinator, you’ll be the lynchpin of the Visitor Centre. Your role is a mix of people management, creative flair, and local understanding:
- Lead the Crew: Manage the volunteer rota and be the friendly face who recruits and welcomes new volunteers to the team.
- Curate the Space: Keep the Visitor Centre looking its best! You’ll manage display layouts and oversee our merchandise to ensure a great first impression.
- Business Liaison: Act as one of the points of contact for local businesses looking to advertise with us, helping them connect with our visitors.
- Problem Solver: Handle day-to-day operational queries and keep the Visitor Centre running like a well-oiled machine.
- Strategic Link: Work closely with the Explore Dartmouth Board to align the centre’s activities with our wider mission for the town.
On all of these you will be supported by a member of the Board.
