Our Community Car Scheme drivers are volunteers who deliver an essential service to our communitites in West Devon. Our drivers are empathetic, patient, friendly and professional, ensuring that their passengers feel safe, comfortable and arrive stress-free for their appointments.

If you love driving, meeting new people and the satisfaction of providing a practical service in your community, please give us a call 01837 55000 and have a chat to one of our friendly office team.

Primarily we take passengers to their medical appointments, we will also take them to visit loved ones in hospital or care homes, take them shopping, or to a social event, where they have no other means of transport to get them there. We also have 2 wheelchair accessible vehicles, we can provide full training on these vehicles, if you wish to be one of our WAV drivers.

There are also personal benefits to you, perhaps you are recently retired and have a few hours on your hands which you were expecting to fill but haven't quite got there yet.

Volunteering with us, gives a sense of purpose, and it can also be an opportunity to get to know your neighbours if you haven't had that opportunity due to other commitments. Perhaps you are between jobs and need something to keep the grey matter active and want to show on your CV that you are a self-motivated individual.

You can choose which days and journeys you want to do; you could do one day a week and opt to only go to RD&E Exeter, or you may want to do only local journeys ie, taking passengers to their local doctor's or hospital.

Each journey we request of you comes with the option of accept or decline. Full training & equipment is provided and we will give you a very warm welcome to our team.
