Turning Wild – Changing Perceptions and Lives
Turning Wild is a fully accessible outdoor day service and community growing space
Located near Newton Abbot, Buckland Barn will provide employment and therapeutic opportunities for those with additional needs, while delivering a unique, inclusive travel experience for families, schools, and care groups
Turning Heads is a trusted community interest company established in 2018 to empower adults with additional needs, provide community projects and work alongside other voluntary and charitable groups to enhance local provision.
We currently run a day service from a skills centre in Torquay, a community
café and a large social supermarket. The purchase of the land at Buckland
Barn is really exciting to us and will allow us to focus on developing our business by Providing employment and life skills training for adults with
additional needs and those furthest from employment.
Our two directors, June and Alan run a team of 35 employees, volunteers, clients and support workers and we support organisations such as Torbay Mencap, The Yes Centre, Torbay Scrapstore, Maker Arts, The Food Alliance and Feed a Child Torbay.
We provide and develop a community food and agriculture initiative helping to supply produce to the food banks and social supermarkets across Torbay and Teignbridge. This gives us the scope to develop inclusive, nature-based tourism on the site for those with disabilities.
