The charity is constantly on the look out for additional volunteers to help in a wide range of different tasks, but particularly for marketing, IT, events management and maintenance. Regarding maintenance, we're looking both for individuals with particular skills in woodwork, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems, but also for anyone with a 'can do' attitude, simply willing to 'chip in' under direction. For example, we have a regular need for filling, sanding, painting and other basic DIY tasks!
At this time, the charity is also looking to increase its number of Honorary (i.e. non-paid, volunteer) Trustees. The Pilgrim Heritage Sailing Foundation is a charitable company, limited by guarantee, and all Trustees are also Directors of the company. We're looking here for individuals willing to give typically a few days per month of their time to help guide the direction and development of the organisation for the future. Ideally, we'd welcome hearing from those with relevant experience of at least one of the following:
- Fundraising in the not-for-profit or charity sector
- Leadership or governance in a charitable organisation, preferably in the heritage sector
- Sailing as a skipper on a commercial sailing yacht or sail training vessel
- Experience in traditional shipbuilding techniques or marine engineering and systems
- Operating at Board level in a small or medium sized business over an extended period or comparable experience in the public sector
Pilgrim is based in Brixham and we're particularly interested to hear from volunteers local to the town or the wider Torbay area, for ease of access, since much of our work is of a 'hands-on' nature.
