We’d like to bring together some volunteer makers, socially, to assemble kits, reclaimed supplies, and handmade ‘things’ to ‘co-create’ a selection of gifts that encourage re-use, #everydaycreativity, and gifting that does social good. Proceeds from the sale of the items we’d make (and sell at local craft markets etc) will support our mental health support activities. (Mental Health support is often needed at moments when people are least financially stable, prone to isolation, and feel most uncomfortable in new social settings, and done ‘properly’ isn’t cheap. Our services are relatively inexpensive, but still help people in need by subsidy and dunded spots!)
Subject to laws around retail, more vulnerable participants could also make things we could sell (perhaps with help from other volunteers) - to support themselves through their vulnerable life moment, or help with the admin and craft stalls of the programme.
Ideals:
Community, connection, safe social settings, co-creation
Sustainability, Re-use, Upcycling, Everyday Creativity
Everybody has vulnerable moments in life, and nobody should have to go through them alone
Empowerment, Individualism, Recovery with proven social models
Creative activity helps us process (this is scientific fact, not just an ideal!)
