Join the Alliance for Dignified Food Support this summer to shape a future without food banks.
Emergency food aid is not the solution to poverty; it never has been. But how we respond to poverty is not inevitable. We finally have a government that says they’re committed to ending mass reliance on emergency food parcels. So let’s start doing things differently.
The Alliance for Dignified Food Support has launched their new campaign, ‘Working Together For A Food Bank Free Britain’.
Joining the campaign means joining a movement committed to change, and calling on local authorities to prioritise:
-
Cash first support, such as hardship grants, for people at the point of crisis
-
Advice and specialist services that build resilience
-
Community projects that build real connections around food
Over 280 people have already signed up, and more than 40 organisations have endorsed, including the National Education Union, Nourish Scotland, the Bakers Food & Allied Workers Union and food partnerships from across England, Scotland and Wales.
The campaign will culminate with a week of collective action, beginning Friday, September 4th, including a series of symbolic food bank strikes.
