Devon Link-Up is an organisation run by, and for, people with learning difficulties and/or autism who live in Devon.
Heathfield Farm offers meaningful and purposeful agriculturally based activities that lead to people developing genuine community connections, growing in self-esteem, self-belief, and self-confidence.
These activities can include planting, watering, mulching and pruning. They may also include basic woodwork skills, site maintenance and cookery.
The atmosphere at the farm is always friendly, calm and relaxed.
Focus is placed upon building clients' confidence and allowing them to
achieve things in their own way, in their own time and on their own terms.
We are looking for volunteers with a caring nature who have an interest in either horticulture/agriculture or cookery to help us continue to make Heathfield Farm a wonderful place to be.
As a volunteer you will work at the direction of the General Manager to support people attending the farm.
You will be working alongside our team of skilled support workers to help them fulfil daily activities with our clients.
If comfortable to do so, you may be asked to lead a small group of clients to carry out a specific task.
We would also welcome applications from volunteers who prefer to work independently to help us keep on top off the ground maintenance requirements of our site or from anyone who may have expertise in other areas that could be beneficial in supporting the charity.
Volunteers will be expected to…
- Follow and operate within the policies and procedures of Heathfield Farm, including Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities.
- Value and respect the rights of our clients.
- Maintain the confidentiality of Heathfield Farms activities, the people in or care, our team and our procedures.
- Be prepared to complete a basic DBS check.
