The Menopause Rewrite - Taking back the story, one page at a time.
A creative collage and mixed-media workshop inspired by Tom Phillips’ A Humument, exploring identity, change and transformation through the menopause journey.
Saturday, 17th October, 2-4pm. Barnstaple Library, in the foyer. Free (donations welcome)
For generations, women have been handed stories about ageing, hormones, bodies and identity that often don’t reflect our lived experiences.
The menopause can feel like a chapter written by someone else, full of myths, misunderstandings and missing information.
This workshop invites participants to select a page from an old book and transform it into something entirely new. Inspired by Tom Phillips’ A Humument, participants will use the words on the page as a starting point to reveal hidden messages, create new meanings, and explore personal truths through collage, imagery, drawing, and mark-making. Each person will create their own ‘Menopause Humument’, a unique visual story reflecting their experiences, thoughts and feelings around menopause and midlife transformation.
The question is: ‘What happens when we take back the pen?’
