A memory cafe for people living with dementia or other memory problems and their loved ones and carers. Uniquely this memory cafe takes place in a designated carriage of a steam train travelling through the beautiful Devon countryside operated by the South Devon Railway.

We leave Buckfastleigh at 3.45 precisely and travel to Totnes, arriving back in Buckfastleigh at 5pm. 

The cafe provides a safe and supportive space to socialise and enjoy a wonderful trip out. Other benefits include peer support, information, guidance and refreshments.

  • Parking
Currently there is no wheelchair access to the heritage railway carriage. To board the train you need to negotiate 2 large steps (ramp can be provided) and walk to your seat. There is a toilet on board the train but this is not fully accessible. Accessible toilets are on the platform at both Buckfastleigh and Totnes stations.
