Transport to medical appointments for the over 55's
Our community transport service enables older people get to health appointments and our group activities. We provide this service through or volunteer drivers, our minibus and wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV).
Dementia and their family carers
Our Dementia and family carers service provides:
- Memory Cafe - both people with memory difficulties and their carers are able to spend a few hours socially, meeting others in similar situations, making new friends, sharing information about dementia and enjoying new activities
- Carers support - we provide a group for carers of people with dementia where carers can find peer support, information, and advice.
Information and advice - our Dementia Coordinator can give one to one information and advice.
Home Help
Our Home Help service helps the elderly living in Totnes and the surrounding areas with household tasks and other domestic needs. Our friendly Home Help staff can with with:
- Housework
- Laundry
- Ironing
- Shopping
- Form filling and correspondence
Wellbeing connections
Many things can affect someone's health from feeling isolated and lonely, to work, money housing problems or managing different long-term conditions.
Their doctor isn't the only person who can help them get better. There are other things they can do to improve their health and wellbeing. This is where our link workers, wellbeing and dementia co-ordinators can help. They will listen, help people identify what is important to them and who can help. They will help create a plan to help people reach their goals and support them to work through it.
