About

Drop in centre and fund raising

Hi.. My name is Sue and I am a small cog in the much larger workings of Alabare, our main aim is to offer support to homeless and vulnerable adults in need of a helping hand

For this purpose we have a very helpful team of staff each with their own ability to assist with various needs

We have 3 houses in Bideford and 2 in Barnstaple, at present these houses provide 29 supported living rooms to people that might otherwise find themselves homeless

Our aim is to support homeless adults who need a helping hand to move into independent living, and also to provide floating support to adults living in their own accommodation, to prevent homelessness.

We have recently opened a drop in centre at 80 High Street Bideford and it is here that you will find me, my role is to provide a friendly face and free refeshments 3 mornings a week, tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, I also offer a free light breakfast on Thursday morning

The drop in centre is open to everyone and will hopefully become a good meeting place for anyone in need of help advice and support or just someone to talk to or to listen when needed

We are a charity and as such we depend largely on donations and funding from various scources, in the drop in centre £1 will help to fund a free drink or cup of soup for a person in need, £2 will enable a person in need to have a shower or laundry service

We have  a tap and go contactless card reader on our window for anyone kind enough to make a donation when we are not available  in the hub

Its a relatively small space but we have so many plans and ideas for it including offering free coats shoes and jumpers for any one in need (donations always needed and welcomed) and hopefully a hairdresser will join us in the new year offering her services free of charge to those in need

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please pass on our information to anyone that might benefit from a helping hand
