About

Working with Homeless and Vulnerable adults

Hi ... My name is Sharon and I am the manager of Alabare North Devon

Alabare provide supported housing for homeless adults who need support to move into independent living, and floating support to adults living in their own accommodation, to prevent homelessness.

Bideford Supported Housing offers accommodation for 22 people who are homeless and have complex needs as a result of previous life experiences. The accommodation is offered in three houses, Charis House is a 9-bed house, High Street House has 7-beds and Silvester House is a 6-bed house. There are varied funding streams for the accommodation.  Our North Devon services also include support for 8 people in Barnstaple in separate properties.

When you arrive at Alabaré North Devon, you will be allocated a key worker, who will work with you to assess your needs within a support plan. This will create an action plan, which will identify priority needs, and you, with the support of your key worker will work on each area during your stay. We will help you master the skills you will need to manage your own home, such as budgeting, shopping and life skills. We will also offer healthy eating advice and develop your cooking abilities.

The houses are located within walking distance of Bideford town centre, providing access to the local council benefits office, the job centre, and doctors surgeries. The bus stops are within walking distances allowing you to have regular access to Barnstaple, which has more shops and a college.

Our floating support service helps adults, and families, in private tenancies and social housing, who are threatened with homelessness, address their issues and help resolve them, this support is also offered through a support and action plan.

If you think Bideford Supported Housing could help you, please contact us for more information.
