Over the last 50 years volunteers at our friendly little museum have built up a unique treasure trove of objects that tell the story of Salcombe's links with ships and the sea from ancient times to the Second World War when the US Navy was based in Salcombe.
We are seeking new volunteers to help run the museum which, in 2024, will beopen every day between March 28th and October 31st from 10.30 and 12.30 in the morning and 2.30 and 4.30 in the afternoon.
In order to keep these hours more stewards are needed for the two-hour shifts. Most volunteers commit to between two and four shifts a month. Training is given and the only requirement for anyone wishing to join the team is an interest in local history and a welcoming approach to our visitors.
We are also hoping to recruit people with organisational/ educational/ heritage or public relations skills to join our small management team.
