About
Our Mission is to improve the lives of older people in Devon.
Age UK Devon is an independent registered Charity (No. 1019018) and Company Limited by Guarantee (No. 02773453) responsible for raising its own income through grants, contracts, legacies, donations and chargeable services.
Our mission is to improve the lives of older people in Devon through our:
Community activities including exercise classes (seated exercise) and gentle sport activities (walking, walking football, sea swimming) and social cafes.
Digital Champion Programme we tackle digital exclusion by offering free one-to-one and group digital support sessions.
Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions offer specially designed activities that support and improve the wellbeing of older people living with mild to moderate dementia.
Information & Advice service for older people, their carers, friends and relatives. Advisors provide confidential information on health and social care issues, financial concerns and details of local services.
Welfare Benefits entitlement check for pensioners identifies any due entitlements. We advise how to make applications and offer practical support with completing benefits forms.
Better Later Lives project for people over pension age who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, a ‘significant life event’ e.g., bereavement, relationship breakdown, deterioration in health, financial changes, or a change of living arrangements. A home visit helps identify what they want to achieve, or regain, following their significant event.
Foot Care service delivered by qualified foot care specialists East Devon, Exeter and Tiverton, provides foot care treatment in people’s homes.
Enabling & Home Support service in East and Mid-Devon and Teignbridge enables older people to stay independent in their own home. Clients have personalised support plans and through regular visits we provide:
- Cleaning and housework
- Shopping (escorted/non-escorted)
- Companionship
- Planning and preparation of light meals
- Support with attending appointments
- Organising household paperwork
- Time off for carers
- Support when family are on holiday.
