Moorland Community Caring is a small charity supporting adults in Buckfastleigh, Ashburton, Bovey Tracey and the surrounding areas, who may be feeling isolated or vulnerable.
Our Wellbeing Co-ordinators work one-to-one with clients helping them to address both their practical and emotional needs. Our Health & Wellbeing Co-ordinator is dedicated to supporting clients living with Dementia and those who need end-of-life support.
We also have a team of 60 plus volunteers who support people in our communities, gifting their time and support. Some help with practical tasks such as shopping, prescription pick-ups, dog walking and transport, whilst others organise phone groups, attend our socials and make sandwisches and wash-up! Each and every volunteer is valued by us. We are always eager to welcome new volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to our team. Everyone has something to offer!
We hold Moor Social groups twice a month in Ashburton, Bovey Tracey and Buckfastleigh, as well as a Memory Cafe once a month in Ashburton. For people who find getting out and about difficult, we run weekly phone groups, enabling people to enjoy bingo, crosswords, well-being moments and more - all by phone. Volunteers are also vital to the running of these events.
As a small organisation, we are able to tailor our support to individual’s particular needs as well as aiming to help our clients and our volunteers to feel part of a supportive, connected community.
