I build positive professional relationships with children and young people who have complex needs and have often experienced significant difficulties in previous education settings, with the aim to inspire young people to achieve their goals. As a1:1 Learning Mentor I enjoy the opportunity to work with students and show them how amazing learning can be as learning can take place anywhere the student is engaged, safe, motivated and encouraged to discover, and it is my role to show them.

In my role as Educational Mentor I have delivered ‘planned learning’ through a range of creative and interest based activities. I have an understanding of the importance of emotional regulation and can implement strategies to support/model this appropriately. I have detailed knowledge of how to work in a trauma informed way.

I follow the guidance in each person’s individual risk assessment/student plan to support them to manage their anxiety and behaviour in a positive way and to keep them and others safe. I utilise a range of strategies in supporting the range of additional needs required to regulate the student.
