Working across the South West to ensure that people with disabilities and Deaf BSL users can live the life they choose.
At Living Options Devon our vision is of a fully informed, accessible and inclusive society in which every individual has the choice and opportunity to achieve their full potential and take part as an equal and valued citizen.
We exist to ensure people with physical and/or sensory disabilities and Deaf people with sign language can make an active and equal contribution to society.
Specifically we:
Encourage people to feel more informed, valued and confident to take part in society through relevant training and support;
Enable people to identify priorities and develop user-led services;
Engage people in effective communication with local/national service commissioners and providers; and
Empower people to raise awareness of what society needs to do to provide equality of opportunity locally and nationally.
Our support services include:
Time to Talk:Our free, confidential listening support and advice helpline, for those with a disability and/or long-term health condition.
Counselling Service: Six free sessions of accessible counselling to people with a disability and members of the Deaf community (British Sign Language Users) across Devon.
Deaf Led Services: As British Sign Language users and members of the Deaf Community, the Deaf Led team know first-hand the issues faced by Deaf people and the best advice and support to give to overcome these.
Countryside Mobility: Providing easy access to the countryside for anyone who has difficulty walking, through an off road mobility scooter hire scheme. Explore the South West with freedom and ease.
Devon Disability Network (DDN): Enabling disabled and Deaf people to campaign and be involved in developing the support services they need.
