We are the volunteers ourselves dedicated to the railway media
We are a dedicated group of railway enthusiasts that want to re-open a disused branchline for the public and local community. We have become an association now with 1300+ followers on our FB page, been on local TV and in the local press, we'll known on social media especially the railway media and are duexto release an new website anyday now.
The line was mothballed by Network Rail in 2015 and has not been used since. This was only used for freight trains recently but was the branchline from Moretonhampstead and Exeter via the Teign Valley Railway. The Moretonhampstead line to Heathfield/Bovey Tracey and from Exeter to Heathfield was taken out of use and removed in 1968 when passenger services ceased all together.
Since 2017 we as an association have been dealing with Network Rail who still own the line between Heathfield and the main station at Newton Abbot to reopen the line to the public and local community as a passenger line again. Heathfield station, Teigngrace Halt and ex-platforms 9/10 still exist along with the actual railway line. A private investor wants to use this line once again and us as an association want to restore the stations as best as we can along the line as volunteers and reconstruct the historical side of this beautiful interesting line and carry on carrying and looking after the stations along the line. There are 8 dedicated members on our committee but we really do need more volunteers to come along and help us for the foreseeable future of this important rail link.
