MD/Founder of South Devon Singers and the new Exeter Science Choir - Composer
I'm a composer of choral and vocal music and I founded South Devon Singers Community Choir in 2004. We have branches in Teignmouth/Dawlish and Ivybridge. I have a strong interest in science, which has informed my work over many years.
I was the world's first songwriter-in-residence with a science festival - with MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts - where I spent several weeks each year from 2007-2019, helping to mount science concerts and running hundreds of songwriting workshops in the city's schools.
I have recently started a new group, Exeter Science Choir, with support from the university. It is open to all members of the community, including students and staff of the uni, of course, but everyone else too.
The Science Choir is part of the South Devon Singers family of choirs, which means open-to-all regardless of experience, and with a flexible fee sctructure according to ability to pay. Nobody is excluded based on what they can afford.
The Teignmouth/Dawlish branch of SDS rehearses on Monday evenings 7.30-9.30pm.
The Ivybridge branch of SDS rehearses on Tuesday evenings 7.30-9.30pm.
The Exeter Science Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings 7-8.30pm at Streatham Court, Rennes Drive, on the university campus.
