A charity set up to enhance the health and well-being of people living in the local area

The Community LiFE Hub Group (CLHG) is a charity set up to enhance the health and well-being of people living in the local area (the word LiFE in our title stands for: Learning, Inclusion, Friendship and Education). We focus on activities to: build confidence, reduce isolation, learn new craft skills, make new friends and feel involved in the local community whilst also finding out about other local services and activities.

The CLHG was set up in 2017 and in 2020 became a registered charity, based in the Culm Valley Integrated Centre for Health in Cullompton. It is open to anyone living within the catchment area of both surgeries in the town (Bramblehaies Surgery and College Surgery) and includes the villages of: Bradninch, Willand, Uffculme and Sampford Peverell).

The activities run by the Community LiFE Hub Group include:

  • Friday Drop-in Group for anyone wanting to drop in between 10am and 12 noon for a friendly chat and coffee to: gain in confidence, make new friends,  become involved in our informal activities of the day (dominoes, puzzles, jigsaws etc) whilst finding out about other local activities or groups.

  • Hub Garden Group volunteers look after the Anton Chekhov Community Garden, Physic Garden, Vegetable Patch (soon to become a sensory garden) to support the benefits we all get from being involved in green spaces.

  • Clickers Memory Cafe  – a meeting point for those with mild cognitive problems (including the early stages of dementia) on Tuesday afternoons meeting in the Café and in the Community Life Hub, with lots of activities to help stimulate brain activity.
