We are working together to welcome a refugee family into our community, with friendship and practical support.

We are a group of volunteers with links to a number of local organisations. We are fundraising to prepare for and then offer practical support that anyone would hope to receive if they were forced to relocate to a new and unfamiliar place. The Government supports the Community Sponsorship Scheme, of which Bideford Community Welcome is a part. They require us to raise funds to help the family settle into their new home, and to provide essential English leassons and interpreters. The practical support will also include helping the family to access essentuial services (eg benefits, education, medical and dental etc). and preparing a home for them, as well as friendship and creating links in their new community.
