Equine and Canine Therapist specialising in Emotional Release and Human-Animal Relationship Readings

Hello,

My name is Oliver Parfitt from OPCAP Conservation and Animal Physiotherapy. Please allow me to introduce myself and my therapeutic services.

I am an Animal Physiotherapist running a mixed species practice working predominantly with dogs and horses, in Devon. Within my physio practice, I take an holistic approach to healing by incorporating another discipline alongside, which is Applied Herbal Choices. As a qualified consultant, this allows me to support veterinary treatment plans on a physical, physiological and psychological/emotional basis.

A brief introduction to Applied Herbal Choices

This is a behavioural method using the principles of animal self-medication, that taps into an animals innate ability to self-select specific plants and minerals in response to homeostatic imbalances, disease or parasitic infestation. With our domestic companions, this is achieved by offering a selection of herbs (fresh and/or dried) with a variety of key essential oils and hydrosols for self-selection. Animals will utilise the plant extracts and minerals through inhalation, ingestion or topical application, in accordance with what they need.

Patients with a wide variety of conditions have responded well to this method that include:

Physical issues relating to the following:

Behavioural and emotional issues:

·       Digestive system

·       Respiratory system

·       Cardiovascular system

·       Integumentary system (skin, fur, claw and hoof)

·       Reproductive system

·       Urinary system

·       Endocrine system (Hormonal imbalances)

·       Nervous system

·       Musculoskeletal system

·       Fear and anxiety

·       Depression and withdrawal

·       Rescue cases

·       Aggression

·       Recovery from an accident, physical trauma or surgery

·       Hormonal imbalances

·       Adjustment to new environments

·       Palliative care
