Alice Yarney

I am a recent graduate in English Literature and Creative Writing from Cardiff University, a member of the Russell Group, having completed my degree in July 2024. My studies have equipped me with advanced skills in linguistic analysis, report and essay writing, and editing. I am also proficient in interpreting and producing formal written content, including corporate and professional communication. Throughout my degree, I demonstrated both independent initiative and effective collaboration, consistently meeting deadlines and delivering work to a high standard. Alongside my academic background, I have developed strong customer facing and operational skills through varied roles in retail and hospitality. My experience spans fast-paced waitressing in a bistro to customer sales roles at New Look, H&M, and currently, John Lewis in Exeter. These positions have strengthened my ability to provide excellent service, resolve customer concerns, and contribute to team success in dynamic retail environments. Currently, I hold a position at John Lewis, where I have gained experience in complaint resolution, point-of-sale transactions, and stock management. I have also taken on informal leadership responsibilities, supporting both customers and colleagues. My calm, approachable manner and strong work ethic allow me to adapt easily to changing demands while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach. Furthermore my commitment to my role has allowed for flexibility in its limitations, allowing for me to become a fully trained lingerie fitter. This progression has aided in my effectiveness within my team and allowed me to alternate between roles and perform efficiently.
