About
I have just retired from working as a support worker for the Esther Community, for the past 18 years
I have worked since the age of 16; first for 27 years at Barclays Bank and then for 18 years at the Esther Community, a supported living facility in Exeter. I thoroughly enjoyed my role as a support worker there and was particularly passionate about working with neurodivergent young people, as I, myself, have OCD and am on the autistic spectrum. These aspects have enabled me to offer full support and guidance to the young people, who were drawn to my empathetic, passionate and caring nature and knew that I understand how they felt. I miss the young people I worked with, but felt that the shift pattern of night shifts, late shifts and weekend shifts was becoming too all encompassing and my husband expressed that he would like to spend more time with me! I am passionate about rock and alternative music including goth, punk, emo and shoe-gazing, however, I am not averse to listening to dance tracks and even old school disco. My husband and I love travelling the world together and I am also interested in world war 2 history, fossils, geology, reading, poetry, art, visiting museums and art galleries, collecting dolls and meeting up with friends. My heroine’s are Violette Szabo, a courageous Special Operations Executive, in world war 2 and Frida Kahlo, the great artist. I am looking forward to hearing back from you.
