About the role

A hub is a group of people who come together and organise activities and events to support DKMS. This can be a group of friends, family, colleagues, or just local people getting together to do something to support our cause. They do this by organising donor recruitment events, fundraising activities or raising awareness. Any activity they do supports us achieve our goal.

The role of the hub volunteer is to be confident in guiding and organising activities and events. There can be more than one hub leader in each hub.

We’re looking for someone passionate about fighting blood cancer and blood disorders, to join with us to:

Ensure the group fulfils the aims of DKMS UK

• Plan and organise a calendar of varied Donor Recruitment, Blood Cancer Awareness and fundraising events (ideally four events)

Manage and lead a small team of volunteers on all events agreed

Ensure the group is organised to take into consideration the strengths of other group volunteers, local needs and resources

Recruiting more volunteers into the Hub

Promote the Hub and DKMS UK charity and campaigns within your local community

Supporting with ad-hoc tasks to support the charity when necessary

Minimum Time Commitment

Volunteers will ideally commit to a minimum of 10 hours a month or a minimum of four small events per year. The placement will ideally last for a minimum six months. Hours are flexible and negotiable to suit the volunteer.

Ability to recruit own volunteers

Good leadership skills

Ability to use own initiative and be organised

Honest and reliable

Good communication skills

Possess good people skills

Have a good knowledge and understanding of your local community
