Our Headlight structured peer support groups provide young people experiencing mental health challenges a place to learn, share and grow together.
We are looking for volunteers who can be a central support to our group faciliators and mental health wellbeing workers, ensuring our groups are welcoming, friendly, and run smoothly for the benefit of our young people. Our sessions take place for 2 hours in an evening, on a fortnightly basis.
This role is varied, involving some wellbeing assistance such as offering a listening ear to a young person, alongside more practical support to ensure the smooth running of the group. You would become a crucial member of a small but dedicated team of volunteers and staff working with a cohort of young people for a long term programme of support.
The best volunteers are those who are committed to building supportive relationships with our service users and are able to offer an accepting, non-judgemental presence to the group. More practical support includes helping to prepare & cook the meal shared at each group, alonside setting up & tidying before and after each session.
We currently have volunteer vacancies for our Headlight groups in Honiton, Seaton and Sidmouth.
