We welcome adult volunteers who care about the social, emotional and mental well being of young people and are interested to work with our team of Youth Support Workers running sessions at our centre in Ashburton. Sessions are usually three hours long (plus some set up and close down) on weekday evenings (Tues-Fri).
Volunteers assist with a variety of activities, and in mentoring and supporting young people.
Activities at the centre are varied according to the interests of our members and our youth support team, including cooking, computer skills, sports, games, arts and crafts, discussions and debates, etc.
We offer training and support to our volunteers.
BYP is committed to safeguarding children and young people, and all staff and volunteers who may have unsupervised access complete checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
BYP is currently funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
