Welcome Host Volunteers are responsible for enriching visitor experience to our museum and ensuring their visit is memorable. They are the public face of the museum and help visitors to explore the museum’s annual exhibition, and its retail merchandise via the museum shop, as well as providing support at museum and community events.

As a Welcome Host Volunteer, you will support the museum by:

  • Opening the museum and welcoming visitors on arrival
  • Being a point of information at the museum entrance
  • Assisting with the admissions process
  • Providing visitors with a brief introduction to the annual exhibition
  • Providing information, they may require for their visit
  • Engaging with visitors and providing assistance where needed
  • Responding to questions or queries about the museum and its collection
  • Supervising the collection whilst on duty and ensuring its safety whilst open
  • Adhering to housekeeping routines i.e. temperature and humidity sheets
  • Assisting at museum events and community outreach projects
  • Supporting the museum to deliver its charitable aims and objective

When :

The Welcome Host Volunteer role is flexible however, we ask that you commit to at least one shift per two-week period as a minimum. This would allow us to open the museum on a regular basis, in line with our annual opening times mentioned above, and allow volunteers to work on a bi-weekly basis.
