Artizan Gallery are delighted to welcome photographer Sue Vaughton to the gallery in March where we shall be curating a particularly intimate and personal exhibition of her works in our Basement Gallery.

‘Themes of family, loss, memory, and belonging form the heart of my creative practice, exploring personal themes and perspectives through visual mediums’

Based on her early years of extensive travels with her parents who moved around frequently from country to country for work overseas, her visual explorations involve staged portraiture, gel printing, and documenting archival Polaroids, photographs, and Kodachrome slides. The photographs are made against a backdrop of cardboard boxes and packaging materials, symbolising the containment of objects, the capacity for memory, and the surface details of meaningful family possessions, stories, and locations. In addition, Sue has crafted a life-size cardboard sculpture that represents layers of memories in the form of a beloved side table.

Sue holds a BA (Hons) in Photography from Nottingham Trent and is pursuing an online MA in Photography with Falmouth University (expected April 2024).

The exhibition will run12th - 30th March with an opportunity to meet the artist at an evening event on Friday 15th March 18:00 – 20:00
