NDADA and Encompass South West are working together to bring back into use 'The Watering Hole' an old disused pub in the centre of Barnstaple to create a Women's Community Centre called 'Temperance House.'
We are creating a safe space for the women of North Devon who are affected by domestic abuse, sexual violence, mental health, addiction and loneliness where women can connect together and support each other in their recovery to take back control in their lives.
The Women's Centre will link together multiple women's projects which run across the area by providing a safe space, cafe, meeting rooms and a place for community connections.
How can you help?
Initially there is a huge amount of work that needs to be done to convert the old pub into the new community hub. We need trades, furniture, building supplies, labour and general help; the list is pretty endless. If you or your business would be willing to volunteer to get this Women's Centre up and running, we would love to hear from you!
