The Planetary Lab in Barnstaple is looking for volunteers in a range of roles to support the running of their first pilot hands-on science centre. This is a place where people of all ages can come and creatively engage with science. The opening hands-on exhibition is called 'There's no place like home' and takes visitors on a journey looking at what we know about distant planets and how it helps us to better understand how to look after our planet.
We are looking for volunteers for the following roles:
Welcomers and mediators: Friendly people to welcome people into the space, answer general questions, signpost to scientists/information and help facilitate hands-on activities and encourage interesting conversations.
STEMM experts: People with a background in Science, Tech, Engineering, Maths or Medicine that can help share their expertise, quality assure our work, answer questions about the science content of the exhibition/workshops, encourage interesting conversations, help facilitate hands-on activities.
General support: Range of responsibilities including supporting event set-up/pack-down, welcoming people into the space, counting visitors, tidying and organising the space.
