We are actively searching for Tour Guides!
The care, restoration and future of The Italian Garden depends entirely on our amazing volunteer team. The current team was established in 2020 and has seen the development of the garden, clearing many areas, uncovering new finds and now focusing on specific areas for replanting.
Our tour guides share the garden's history and this progress with our visitors.
We run a number of guided tours every year. We get regular requests from gardening and history groups, Women's Institutes, U3A groups, as well as offering the opportunity for ad hoc visitors to join a group tour. This helps us raise funds for the restoration and replanting of the garden.
Due to current demand, we are actively searching for new Tour Guides to join our team. No experience is required, just an interest in sharing the history of the garden and engaging with visitors. Your commitment is completely flexible as we can arrange tours to meet your availability. Full training and support will be provided, as well as the opportunity to shadow current guides until you are comfortable leading a tour.
Who are our volunteers and why do they volunteer?
Everyone falls in love with the magical atmosphere and story of The Italian Garden! Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and professions which makes for a very interesting team.
All our volunteers share a love of nature & wildlife and have a desire to be involved in giving this very special garden a future. Some are experienced, hands-on gardeners and some are individuals hoping to gain new skills. You don't need to have any experience to volunteer for us, as you will be joining a team who can support and guide you.
If you are interested in joining our friendly and supportive team or if you would like more information about how any of the opportunities could meet your interests, then email [email protected]
