Do you enjoy fixing things? We are recruiting for a volunteer to join our maintenance team for a day or halfday a week.

At Slapton Ley Field Centre we manage multiple buildings over 2 sites and have much maintenace that needs doing to keep them going. Jobs that you could get involved with include:

  • Painting and decorating
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing

No qualifications required, basic training will be given.

We are a friendly mixed team of staff and volunteers who look after the grounds and buildings of the field centre so that they can be used by our visiting groups.

This role gives you:

  • An opportunity to help the Field Studies Council, an environmental education charity, and support the local community.
  • The chance to develop your maintenance skills, which could be used in other fields.
  • The chance to meet other volunteers whilst volunteering and at social events.
  • Another benefit of volunteering is the fabulous cake that is always on offer.

In relation to employment legislation you will be considered a ‘voluntary’ worker, and as such the role is unpaid. However, you will be reimbursed for any reasonable expenses that you necessarily incur in the carrying out of your voluntary role.
