Could you be a game changer for a young person in need of help & support?
Can you offer a little of your time & talent to help transform young lives?
Train to be a mentor with our fantastic and supportive charity: make a real difference in your community whilst having fun and doing something different.
Helping 16-25 yr-olds with a trauma background could be the start of something HUGE – so let’s go!
Who we’re looking for:
- You're a good listener, with an open, inclusive, and non-judgemental attitude.
- You enjoy meeting new people and learning new skills, and you'd like to spend some time alongside a young person, helping them to develop and grow.
- You may seek to help others as a result of your own challenges in life, overcoming childhood trauma and adversity, and/or previous or current work you do with young people: including as a parent/carer, in education or in the community.
- Ideally, you'll have your own transport, or good access to public transport.
Time commitment:
- Up to 3 hours for intial induction and training.
- 2 hours a wekk (1 directly mentoring) for at least 12 weeks.
- Approx. 4 optional small group skills-based sessions.
Induction, Training & Support:
- You'll receive an induction and training session when you first start.
- Once you start your volunteering, you will have access to a coach provided by the charity to offer support and advice.
- Volunteering for Life Chance Trust provides you with an incredible opportunity to enhance your CV and develop personal and professional skills and experience.
Expenses:
This isn’t a paid role, but we’ll cover your expenses for being a mentor, and where possible, seek out training and qualifications to run alongside your volunteering. You’ll be part of a small, lively and committed team determined to transform the life chances of some of the most overlooked young people in our communities.
A full DBS check and an independent character reference are required.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Life Chance Trust is committed to equality of opportunity, supports, and encourages under-represented groups, and values diversity. We want our charity to reflect the diversity of our communities, and so welcome volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds, who will bring a fresh perspective. We may request information to monitor how well we are reaching into our local communities: providing this information is up to you and won’t affect how we engage with you if you choose to get involved.
