Do you have experience as a counsellor?
We are looking to expand our dedicated Volunteer Counselling team, based at both Deer Park, Barnstaple and at The Long House, Holsworthy. Our Counselling team assist, support and contribute to the hospice’s Supportive Care service, offering 1:1 support, primarily with bereaved clients, but also some patients and family members.
Do you feel you can support patients and family members as they explore their grief and loss? You would be meeting on a 1:1 basis, making simple records and inputting these details onto the hospice’s electronic client record therefore it is important you have good IT skills with a good attention to detail.
As well as 1:1 support, you may be making telephone contact with bereaved hospice clients a few months after their bereavement to assist them in deciding whether they would benefit from further support.
As part of your role, you will be required to attend monthly team supervision meetings, either in Deer Park or The Long House, depending on your primary location. Supervision is a vital part of this role and takes place either 1st or 3rd Friday of every month.
What can you expect from us?
- Full training on all aspects of your role
- Reimbursement of reasonable expenses upon prior agreement with your line manager
- Friendly and supportive team
