When was the last time you went a week without seeing someone who wasn't paid to be with you?
All our clients live in residential care. They are supported by staff but have no family or friends. You would be the person choosing to be with them rather than being paid to be with them.
We will pair you with one of our clients and then you will visit them as well as encouraging trips out to the local area. It might be that you watch tennis together, have a chat, or go out for a short walk.
If you volunteer with us, you'll know that your 2 hours every 2 weeks are making a huge difference to an isolated, vulnerable person.
You will also help us keeping your friend safe and report any concern to us. You will benefit from our expert Safeguarding training and the ongoing support of your supervisor.
This role is ideal for you if you are a patient, compassionate person looking for a flexible role.
Ideally you will be available for a couple of hours every fortnight for a minimum of 6 months.
Benefits to you :
• Making an important contribution to a person’s life
• Developing your understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities
• Enhancing your CV and improving your career prospects
• Travel expenses covered
• References upon request (after 3 months of volunteering)
• Access to our Employment Assistance Programme
