Join the Community Buildings Team from Devon Communities Together, as we share the Coffee Morning with members of Bridgetown Community Hall and Bridgetown Alive! We will be available to answer any questions you may have about funding for halls, governance and support available from DCT. You can also meet the volunteers from Bridgetown Alive, network with other halls and enjoy some light refreshments.

  • The coffee morning will run 11.15am - 1.00pm
  • The Q&A session will run 11.30am - 12.30pm

Do you have a question you would like to put forwards? Please contact [email protected] and share your question, along with your name and the hall you are from, and we will seek to resolve this query either by email, or during the session.

Why should you come along?

We are running this event as part of ACREs Village Halls Week 2025 campaign, shining a spotlight on the contribution that England's 10,000+ village halls make to rural communities. The findings from the English Community and Village Hall Survey, 2020 put this into context.

  • Half of all Village Halls in England say they are concerned about recruiting new volunteers but help and support is available.
  • 88% of England's 10,000+ halls are charities, and are run almost entirely by volunteers.
  • Volunteers usually live in the local community and come from all walks of life, but there is a need to recruit younger people.

We support many of these vitally important volunteers through our Community Buildings Service at Devon Communities Together, providing advice, support, and training to our village halls and community buildings membership. You can read more about on our website Village Halls and Community Buildings | Devon Communities Together

DCT supports Village Halls in Devon

At the 2024 AGM, we delivered a Village Hall Q&A event, in which more than 30 halls were in attendance. The feedback was very positive, where we facilitated a range of different discussions, ranging from governance to funding sources, to obtaining best-value village hall insurance. You can watch the previous Q&A session here AGM Village Hall Q and A Session

Bridgetown Community Hall have generously agreed to host our Q&A event, and although this is a drop in event, to get a good idea of numbers that we are expecting, we would be very grateful if you are able to register onto this event through Eventbrite, as well as ensuring there are sufficient refreshments available.
