Join Our Board as a Finance Specialist Trustee

LandWorks is an award-winning charity based on the Dartington Hall estate, near Totnes in Devon. We support people leaving prison or at risk of custody to rebuild their lives, reintegrate into the community and break the cycle of reoffending.

The LandWorks trustees are now seeking to appoint a new member to the board who has strong financial experience in order to help guide the charity into the future.

Why Join Us?

As a trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of LandWorks, ensuring we remain financially stable and true to our charitable objectives. You’ll be part of a committed and passionate team working to make a real difference in people’s lives.

What We’re Looking For

The full role description and person specification can be viewed here

We need someone with:

  • Financial expertise at a senior level.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • A willingness to provide advice and guidance to staff on financial matters, including oversight of budgets and financial statements and ensuring robust accounting procedures are in place.

Beyond your specialist skills, you’ll share our values and bring:

  • Commitment to LandWorks and its ethos.
  • Independent judgment and creative thinking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Trustees meet 3–4 times a year, with occasional visits to our site and participation in key events like our annual Supporters’ Day also encouraged. As well as board papers, you’ll also receive regular updates from our Director to stay connected to our work.

Trustee positions are voluntary, unpaid roles. Travel expenses to meetings can be reimbursed.

What You’ll Gain

  • The opportunity to use your skills for social good.
  • Insight into the transformative work LandWorks does every day.
  • A chance to make a lasting impact on individuals and communities.
  • A supportive board environment.

The post is subject to the Charity Commission’s guidance on eligibility to become a charity trustee and the appointment will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. While this is the case, we welcome applications from eligible candidates with lived experience of the criminal justice system and we will not discriminate unfairly against people with previous convictions.
