Trustee & Treasurer – Life Chance Trust
Location: South Devon (meetings mostly online)
Salary: Volunteer role (expenses reimbursed)
Commitment: Minimum 5 Board meetings per year, plus 4 Finance Meetings with the CEO.
Life Chance Trust is a specialist youth charity in South Devon, dedicated to transforming the life chances of young people aged 16–25 who have experienced childhood trauma or have complex life histories. We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive—emotionally, socially, and economically—and we work tirelessly to make that possible.
We are now seeking an exceptional Trustee & Treasurer to join our Board and play a vital role in strengthening our financial leadership as we continue to grow. What You’ll Do
Alongside fulfilling the legal duties of a Trustee, you will:
- Provide strategic oversight of the charity’s financial health.
- Ensure strong financial controls, transparent reporting, and good governance.
- Support the CEO and Board to make confident and well-informed financial decisions.
- Play an active role in shaping our long-term sustainability and impact.
We’re Looking For
We welcome candidates who can bring enthusiasm, sound judgement, and a collaborative mindset—alongside financial experience suited to a Treasurer role.
You will ideally have:
- Professional experience in finance, accounting, financial management, or related fields.
- Confidence in interpreting financial information and explaining it clearly.
- A commitment to robust governance and good practice.
- A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the values of Life Chance Trust.
- Professional qualified accountant.
Trustee experience is desirable not essential—we offer ongoing training and personal development for Trustees.

Terms of Appointment
- Term: 3 years, renewable for up to 9 years.
- Time commitment:
- 5 Board meetings per year plus AGM (mostly online)
- 4 Finance Meetings with the CEO reviewing Quarterly Financial Management information
- Expenses: Reasonable expenses reimbursed.
