Join us on Wednesday 16th November (1pm to 3pm) in the Museum Cafe, for our first FREE People Library event!
Originally a Scandinavian idea, based on the age-old idea of knowledge sharing; the People Library allows you to 'read' people instead of books.
We lost so much over the last few years in the way of face-to-face communication, connection, and opportunities to challenge and expand our thoughts and ideas. The People Library will host a series of books over the coming weeks, with a variety of topics for you to explore.
Wednesday 16th November:
Anthony Jobs - Re-enactor of local and national WW2 events, a trustee and guide at Brixham Battery Military museum. Anthony is knowledgeable, and enthusiastic, in air raid precautions and the welfare of the British public during WW2.
John Tomkins - Freelance Film Producer who met with a school career advisor when sixteen, with aspirations to be a film Director, was told to get a proper job. So, he did... but he never gave up on that dream and some years later became a full-time film producer making films about history, events and for businesses, directing short films, music videos and even collaborating on many films with Torquay Museum. These films are shown locally and across the world.
Doreen Lafferty - Born in London in the 1930s, Doreen will share her experiences growing up in London during the Blitz. Evacuated to Northampton in 1939, she was returned to WW2 London to live with her grandparents and three aunts, in September 1940 for being too naughty!
Pop into our Cafe, grab a cup of tea and a slice of cake, pull up a chair, and enjoy a conversation with one of our books.
