The role:
We are looking for a hard-working, dedicated, dependable and self-motivated person to be a caretaker for our main site, at The Anchorage, Chapel Street, Tavistock, Devon PL19 8AG but there may be occasions when you will be asked to attend our other TASS premises in Tavistock such as the Community Café or Charity Shop.
The Caretaker/Maintenance Person will help us to keep our buildings and grounds clean, safe, secure and fit for purposes. The role will involve completion of minor repairs, routine cleaning duties, moving furniture and equipment as required and will need to assist with general health & safety of the site. The role will also involve basic cleaning and maintenance of a wheelchair adapted minibus and Berlingo, our electric mobility scooters, wheelchairs and other disability aids.
You will ensure the buildings are safe and tidy and carry out regular checks of areas such as rooms, toilets and communal areas reporting hazards where identified.
This is an important role, and you will be a key part of the team helping us to make sure all staff, volunteers, clients and visitors to our site get the best welcome and experience.
Due to some aspects of the role, you will be required to work to a flexible shift pattern, this will be predominantly weekdays, with the occasional weekend task.

General
- Must have a full UK driving licence with D1 – minibus up to 16 seats
- To be prepared to perform and undertake any other reasonable duties required by the General Manager
- To be always civil and helpful when dealing with staff, volunteers or visitors
- To be prepared to undertake training that TASS considers would be beneficial
- To work in accordance with TASS’s policies and procedures
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
